Former FBI Director James Comey said Wednesday that in hindsight, he would leave out the paragraph in his new book that described President Trump’s physical appearance.
“If I had it to do over again, I wouldn’t put that paragraph in, just because it gave people a handhold who haven’t read the book to attack the book. And I just want people to read the book so it can be useful to them,” Comey said on “The View” Wednesday afternoon about his book, A Higher Loyalty.

The paragraph in question gave a detailed description of Trump’s physical appearance, including his tanned skin, white circles around his eyes, and longer-than-usual neck tie.
Comey has defended the portion of the book by saying he wanted to “set the stage” for readers and show them what he was thinking at the time.
However, Comey did say that if he left out the description of Trump, it would have been inconsistent with the rest of the book where he went into extreme detail when describing the physical appearance of those who made a significant impact on his life.
“I really wasn’t trying to pick on Donald Trump,” Comey told “The View” roundtable. “I could hear my editor’s voice saying, ‘bring the reader, bring the reader,’ and so that’s what I’m trying to do. And I wasn’t making fun of his hands, in fact, I say in the book, ‘His hands seem normal size to me.’”
