Megyn Kelly has largely remained on the sidelines of the news world since her departure from NBC, but that will change later this month.
Kelly, who spent portions of her career at NBC and Fox News, announced the creation of a new independent media company, Devil May Care Media, and a new podcast, The Megyn Kelly Show, on Thursday.
“Every journalist’s dream is to cover the biggest stories and talk to the most interesting people without the shadow of a politicized media institution hanging over them. That’s what I’m about to do. With Devil May Care Media, I answer only to my audience and my conscience,” she said in a statement. “Those who like what I have to say will find the experience deeply rewarding. Those who don’t can look elsewhere. The point is to give the audience authentic content that goes places where traditional media can’t or — more often — won’t. It’s a great challenge that will reconnect me with my audience and I’m excited to get started.”
A press release from the media company said Kelly’s podcast will include interviews with “newsmakers, thought leaders and compelling voices from the heartland and beyond. Listeners can expect interviews that transcend the superficiality and sound-bite driven confines of traditional broadcast and cable news, and instead deliver in-depth, uncensored, thought-provoking conversations.”
The inaugural episode will debut the week of Sept. 28.
Kelly stirred controversy at NBC in the fall of 2018 after she made controversial comments about blackface on air. She later issued an apology, but her time at the network came to a quick end.
Since then, she dipped back into journalism with an interview with Ashley Bianco, a former ABC News and CBS News producer who was fired from CBS News after she was accused of leaking a video from her time at ABC News. The video, which was leaked to Project Veritas, captured anchor Amy Robach expressing her frustration with her network deciding not to air an interview she conducted with an alleged victim of the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
