Joe Biden plans to call President Trump an “existential threat” to the United States during a speech Tuesday in Iowa, according to prepared remarks.
Biden is expected to say Trump poses a threat to decency, America’s standing in the world, and democracy.
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders dismissed Biden’s comments as “truly laughable” while speaking to reporters Tuesday morning.
Sanders said the former vice president has “a lot of explaining to do” about the Obama administration’s policies toward Iran, North Korea, and China.
Both Biden and Trump will be in Iowa Tuesday. Sanders said she was not sure if the president would fire back at the 2020 Democratic front-runner for the remarks.
Trump has previously said he does not see Biden as a threat to his reelection bid.
