President Trump said Wednesday that Michael Cohen is lying to get a reduced prison sentence, just hours before he was set to testify in a public hearing in the House.
“Michael Cohen was one of many lawyers who represented me (unfortunately),” Trump tweeted Wednesday morning. “He had other clients also. He was just disbarred by the State Supreme Court for lying & fraud. He did bad things unrelated to Trump. He is lying in order to reduce his prison time. Using Crooked’s lawyer!”

Cohen is being represented by Lanny Davis, the lawyer who led former President Bill Clinton’s public defense in the 1990s and is close to Hillary Clinton.
Tuesday night, a report emerged that said Cohen’s prepared testimony indicates he will say Trump is a “racist,” “conman,” and “cheat.” He will also tell the panel that Trump knew his former campaign strategist, Roger Stone, “was talking with Julian Assange about a WikiLeaks drop of Democratic National Committee emails.”
Cohen has plead guilty to lying to Congress and separately to campaign finance violations related to hush-money payments he made during the 2016 campaign to two women who alleged they engaged in affairs with Trump.
The night before his public testimony, Cohen was disbarred.
