Rep. Zooey Zephyr was spotted taking a selfie at the nation’s Capitol with members of the progressive ”
Squad
” on Thursday.
As the state’s lone transgender representative, Zephyr has garnered recognition beyond most other state legislators. In the photo, Zephyr is huddled with Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), and Cori Bush (D-MO).

Zephyr shared the photo on Twitter after a press photographer captured the photo being taken from afar and published it.

The first-term representative
filed a lawsuit
with the American Civil Liberties Union earlier this month after being censured by the GOP-led state legislature in April. However, Judge Mike Menahan of the Montana 1st District Court, a Democrat and former state representative,
said in a five-page response letter
that he did not have the authority to intervene in the legislative dispute.
Zephyr is undeterred from remaining in politics and is
actively soliciting
campaign contributions.
