Local volunteers are offering free skin cancer screenings at the Sakura Matsuri Japanese Street Festival in the District this Saturday. Dozens of area dermatologists will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for screenings and to answer questions about preventing, detecting and treating skin cancer. They can be found in the Women’s Dermatologic Society tent located on 12th Street between Constitution and Pennsylvania avenues.
The outreach is part of the national campaign, Play Safe in the Sun, presented by the Women’s Dermatologic Society with collaborative support from La Roche-Posay. For more information, visit: www.playsafeinthesun.org.
The Sakura Matsuri Japanese Street Festival is presented by the Japan Society of Washington D.C. and begins right after the Cherry Blosson Parade. Tickets are $5 for adults, free for kids. Click here to purchase them in advance.
