Trump: Financial statement will show 'I am much richer than people even thought'

President Trump said that he plans to release his financial information prior to the 2020 general elections and that it will prove that he’s richer than people think.

The president’s tweet is likely related to a claim by New York prosecutor that he needs to see Trump’s tax returns in order to investigate whether Trump committed state tax fraud by paying hush money to a porn star as part of an extramarital affair.

Trump has refused to honor the tradition of the president releasing their tax returns, which dates back to President Richard Nixon.

“Bob Mueller, after spending two years and 45 million dollars, went over all of my financials, & my taxes, and found nothing. Now the Witch Hunt continues with local New York Democrat prosecutors going over every financial deal I have ever done. This has never happened to a … President before. What they are doing is not legal. But I’m clean, and when I release my financial statement (my decision) sometime prior to Election, it will only show one thing – that I am much richer than people even thought – And that is a good thing. Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!”

The president is worth slightly north of $3 billion.

House Democrats could use the power of congressional oversight of the IRS to obtain Trump’s returns. Congress has the right to review individuals’ tax returns as a means of monitoring whether the tax code is working as intended.
