Sixers (7-20) at Wizards (8-17)

This time the focus might actually be on the game itself. It was four weeks ago today that Wizards owner Abe Pollin passed away just hours before former Washington head coach Eddie Jordan took to the Verizon Center to face Washington. With him gone, the Wizards’ 108-107 victory was just background noise, although Antawn Jamison did have an inspired 32 points and 14 rebounds in the victory.

What else happened that night? Sixers guard Louis Williams just happened to break his jaw in the first quarter on a collision with Jamison. He still went on to score 26 points but missed a potential game-winning jumper at the end of the game.

His injury, of course, paved the way for the recent return of Allen Iverson to Philadelphia, but he’s been diagnosed with left knee arthritis and didn’t travel to Washington. Ouch. Not to mention, the Sixers have lost 14 of their last 16.

I guess that would make the Wizards the favorites? We’ll see. Randy Foye will be back in the starting lineup for the third time this season. The last time he started, the Wizards tanked a Sunday afternoon matinee to Phoenix, 102-90. The time before that, they crushed New Jersey, 123-104. So who knows…
