Elephant at Md. Zoo euthanized

BALTIMORE (AP) — Officials at the Maryland Zoo say Dolly, one of the oldest female African elephants in the herd, has been euthanized.

A zoo spokeswoman said Tuesday that Dolly was found lying down inside the facility’s barn on Sunday, and veterinarians determined she was gravely ill. A necropsy will be conducted.
