AOC calls Tucker Carlson ‘creep’ over ‘invitation to a booty call’ book review

New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez lashed out at Fox News host Tucker Carlson after he opened his show Friday deriding an upcoming book about the congresswoman and ascribing one section to sounding like a booty call.

“Remember when the right wing had a meltdown when I suggested they exhibit obsessive impulses around young women?” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “Well now Tucker Carlson is wishing for… this on national TV. You’re a creep bro. If you’re this easy w/ sexual harassment on air, how are you treating your staff?”

The liberal Democrat followed up the tweet by calling him “basura,” Spanish for trash.

“Any man that talks like this will treat any woman like this. Doesn’t matter if you’re Republican, Democrat, or neither, this is clearly not a safe person to leave alone w/ women,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “Once again, the existence of a wife or daughters doesn’t make a man good. And this one is basura.”

The congresswoman was tweeting in response to a clip from Carlson’s show, Tucker Carlson Tonight, in which he talked about Take Up Space: The Unprecedented AOC, an upcoming book about Ocasio-Cortez written by editors at New York Magazine and author Lisa Miller. The book chronicles the rise of Ocasio-Cortez in New York politics while also touching on her early life and historic election in 2018.

“The people who wrote [the book] didn’t even realize how creepy it sounded,” Carlson said. “‘I’m alone today,’ Ocasio-Cortez says pointedly at the camera. Is it just us or does that sound like an invitation to a booty call? Maybe one step up from ‘What are you wearing?’ It’s definitely oversharing.”

Carlson additionally called Ocasio-Cortez, whose parents are of Puerto Rican descent, a “rich white lady” in response to a comment in which she calls herself a woman of color.

“No one ever dares to challenge that description, but every honest person knows it is hilariously absurd,” Carlson said. “There is no place on Earth outside of American colleges and newsrooms where Sandy Cortez would be recognized as a quote ‘woman of color’ because she’s not. She’s a rich, entitled white lady. She’s the pampered, obnoxious ski bunny in the matching snowsuit who tells you to pull up your mask while you’re standing in the lift line at Jackson Hole. They’re all the same. It doesn’t matter what shade they are.”

In another tweet, Ocasio-Cortez said Carlson’s name “starts with a P and ends with dejo,” referring to “pendejo,” the Spanish word for idiot.

The feud between Ocasio-Cortez and Carlson has been going on for years. Ocasio-Cortez called Carlson, a “talking inferiority complex” last year after he called her out for her stated fear of getting raped during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. Ocasio-Cortez also referred to Carlson as a “white supremacist sympathizer” in 2019 in response to a guest on his show who claimed the congresswoman’s district was one of the “least American” because of the number of illegal immigrants who live there.
