Court date for accused ‘MAGA bomber’ Cesar Sayoc indicates guilty plea

Alleged pipe bomber and onetime male stripper Cesar Sayoc appears ready to plead guilty.

The online court docket for the federal court in New York where he will appear on March 21 indicates he will offer a plea instead of going through with the pretrial conference as initially scheduled.

It is unclear which charges Sayoc will enter a plea for. He faces felony charges related to threats and pipe bombs mailed to Democratic figures in October, as well as for assaulting a federal officer.

Sayoc — who became known as the ‘MAGA bomber’ — allegedly targeted more than a dozen Democratic figures, including former President Barack Obama, former Vice President Joe Biden, Bill and Hillary Clinton, former CIA Director John Brennan via CNN offices, Former Director of National Security James Clapper via CNN offices, former Attorney General Eric Holder, four members of Congress, megadonor George Soros, and Trump critic and actor Robert de Niro.

The 56-year-old has been in custody since his arrest in a Miami suburb. A registered Republican, Sayoc was living at the time of his arrest in a white van that was covered in what law enforcement officials described as “right wing paraphernalia.”
