Democrats’ anti-child mask and quarantine standards are also anti-science

Anyone who actually “followed the science” on COVID-19 would have far more lenient rules and practices when it comes to children, especially young children, than adults.

But Democratic politicians and bureaucrats do it the other way around.

Stacey Abrams’s little show is the most famous and blatant recent case. Abrams explained she still believes in mask mandates, but that doesn’t apply to her while she’s speaking to children — oh, but it does apply to the children.

The science, in brief, shows that the younger a person is, the less likely he or she is to spread the disease, get the disease, or suffer significantly when he or she does get the disease. In short, children are by far the safest people from COVID-19. If you’re afraid of getting COVID-19, you are far safer around children, especially young children, than around adults.

It’s not even close. An unvaccinated child is statistically safer than a vaccinated 40-something-year-old. When it comes to children under 5, the numbers are even more decisive.

If our COVID-19 policies were sensible, schools would be among the least masked, least socially distanced places in America. Day cares and elementary schools would have gone back to normal before anything else.

Instead, children are more masked and more locked down than adults. To this day, policymakers and politicians are acting as if this is right and normal.

Democratic politicians and health officials are so consistent in regulating children more strictly than adults that it can’t just be sloppiness or thoughtlessness. You have to wonder what else is going on here.

Montgomery County, Maryland — a liberal suburb of Washington, D.C., run entirely by Democrats — has stricter quarantine rules for young children than for older ones and will extend its mask mandate to schoolchildren longer than its mandate for adults.

Here’s Delaware’s Democratic governor, John Carney (no relation), explaining he’ll be unmasking nightclubs and tattoo parlors before he lets the little children show their faces.

Denver repealed its mask mandate, except for schools and childcare centers. The only museum to require masks is the Children’s Museum.

Here’s a Michigan Democrat running for Congress, showing who she thinks needs to be masked (schoolchildren) and who doesn’t (herself).
When the science is so clear that children should be left alone but an entire party is dedicated to regulating their activities and faces even more than adults, you have to wonder what that party’s problem is.
