Call to dump DHS chief Mayorkas, dubbed ‘cartel co-conspirator’

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is facing a new call to quit from immigration hard-liners outraged with his dismantling of the Trump-era border crossing policies that have led to historic levels of illegal crossings, packed holding cells, and the release of thousands of migrants into U.S. towns.

In a sharply-worded demand, the Federation for American Immigration Reform also charged that the secretary is a defacto “cartel co-conspirator” for instituting President Joe Biden’s open border policies that have helped fatten the wallets of human trafficking gangs.

“In essence, Secretary Mayorkas sanctioned the abuse of our immigration system, becoming a cartel co-conspirator responsible for the largest alien and child smuggling operation in U.S. history. In every respect, Mayorkas has failed in his obligation to secure the nation while undermining the values of our country,” said FAIR President Dan Stein.

“It is time for him to go,” he added.
Stein’s demand, previewed to Secrets this morning, follows another from a key Arizona leader for Biden to fire Vice President Kamala Harris from her job as “border czar.” Last week, Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich said in a letter to Biden, “Her response to the border crisis has been absolutely abysmal, so I am requesting that she be replaced as your ‘border czar.’”

FAIR listed 20 moves by Biden and Mayorkas that has led to the most threatening border crisis in two decades. After calming illegal immigration last year, there were 178,000 apprehensions in April, a more than 944% increase from last April’s figures, said FAIR.

Stein’s call was backed up by longtime federal immigration chief Mark Morgan who told Secrets, “I have served in federal law enforcement for decades under both Republican and Democrat administrations. What’s happening today at our southern border is the worst I’ve ever seen, and Secretary Mayorkas is to blame. Every day he stays atop DHS, the crisis he created gets worse.”
Morgan, who served in immigration leadership roles under former Presidents Obama and Trump, added, “If President Biden refuses to remove him, all eyes are on the Senate. Will they make things worse by confirming three Mayorkas-backed radicals to lead Customs and Border Patrol, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services? I sure hope not.”

Mayorkas and Biden aides have shrugged off the complaints in the past. Mayorkas and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have blamed Trump for the troubles on the border.

In a trip to an immigrant holding facility in Texas earlier this month, Mayorkas said, “The Biden-Harris administration inherited a dismantled system plagued by chaos and cruelty.”

Pelosi, last week, defended Biden’s dismantling of Trump’s effective policies. She said, “You had to deconstruct the horrible situation that the Trump administration had created at the border, deconstruct it so you can reconstruct a better system. And they have.”

Stein, however, said the changes are politically motivated and driven by Democratic liberals who want “a borderless nation and virtually no enforcement of immigration laws.”

He added that the moves under Biden and Mayorkas are increasing illegal immigration, boosting the profits of cartels that move migrants and opening the border to greater infiltration of drugs.

“It is clear that Mayorkas will not secure the border or enforce the overwhelming majority of our nation’s immigration laws. Thus, every day that he remains secretary of DHS, he is consciously violating his oath of office,” Stein said. “President Biden must ignore the open-borders puppeteers he has been surrounded with and terminate Secretary Mayorkas immediately. Time is running out,” he added.
