Baltimore County magnet schools hold open houses

Two Baltimore County schools are hosting open houses to allow students and parents the chance to learn more about their magnet programs.

Chesapeake High School in Essex will hold the first open house from 6 to 8 p.m. today. The school, at 1801 Turkey Point Road, will show off its four academies in the STEM areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The Western School of Technology and Environmental Science in Catonsville will hold the other open house next Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Parents and students can talk to the magnet teachers and explore the 10 different magnet programs that Western offers. The school is located at 100 Kenwood Ave.

The deadline for applying to magnet schools in Baltimore County is Nov. 26.
