Court upholds sentence for failure to testify

ELGIN, Ill. (AP) — An Illinois appellate court upheld a 10-year contempt of court sentence handed an Elgin man who refused to testify about a 2009 murder after striking a deal with prosecutors.

The Daily Herald in Arlington Heights reports (http://bit.ly/1iOlWuy) Raul Perez-Gonzalez was sentenced to 35 years in prison for his role in the death of 22-year-old Paola Rodriguez of Rochelle, who was caught in gang crossfire.
