Florida cops hunt ‘hamburglar’ who robbed Wendy’s after cooking burger

South Florida police are asking for the public’s help identifying a burglary suspect who broke into a Wendy’s after hours and cooked himself a burger before stealing a safe.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office dubbed the suspect a “Hamburglar,” referring to the fictional criminal who stole from Ronald McDonald in vintage McDonald’s marketing.

“The suspect has been successful at forcing his way into two restaurants cooking himself some dinner—then stealing what he can’t consume.” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post Friday.

The suspect, a white man, has hit at least two restaurants in the county, located north of West Palm Beach, authorities said. In addition to the Wendy’s, he stole from a downtown Jensen Beach eatery.

“The suspect used a brick to smash in a door at the Wendy’s on Jensen Beach Boulevard. Once in, he started the grill, ate and left [with the] safe,” the sheriff’s office said.

The man attempted to burglarize a third business, a gas station, but could not get inside, according to authorities.

The beefy and bearded man was captured in security camera footage. A large, distinctive upper-arm tattoo may give him away.
