After being called “son of a bitch” by Rodrigo Duterte, President Obama has decided against meeting one-on-one with the president of the Philippines.
Obama will instead meet with the president of South Korea Tuesday afternoon, according to National Security Council spokesperson Ned Price.

Duterte had warned Obama against asking him about human rights violations in his anti-drug campaign, which has resulted in about 2,400 drug dealers and users being killed by law enforcement without due process of law.
“Son of a bitch, I will swear at you,” Duterte said when asked how he’d respond if Obama questioned him on his approach. The two were originally scheduled to meet, but Obama pulled back after the comments, asking aides to investigate whether such a meeting would be constructive.
