House Republicans most likely to harbor opposition to their party’s healthcare bill woke up Tuesday to radio ads in their districts urging them vote for the American Health Care Act.
The bill is set for a Thursday vote on the House floor, and American Action Network, a political nonprofit group aligned with Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., is ratcheting up the pressure on opponents, launching a six-figure radio ad campaign airing on conservative talk radio stations in 28 House districts.
The targeted seats are mostly represented by House Republicans who have expressed opposition, or at least skepticism, about the AHCA and threatened to bring it down if they can’t negotiate desired changes. AAN’s latest ad, part of a $10 million investment to boost the GOP’s repeal and replacement of Obamacare, is presenting the choice Republicans face as a vote for or against President Trump.
The spot closes with a clip of Trump telling reporters saying that he’s “100 percent” behind the AHCA.
Here’s the script of the ad:
The American Health Care Act versus Obamacare.
Obamacare is full of job-destroying mandates and tax hikes.
The Republicans’ plan eliminates them.
Obamacare put bureaucrats in control of health care decisions.
The new plan puts patients and doctors in charge.
Obamacare stuck families with soaring premiums.
The Republicans’ plan provides more choices and lower costs.
The American Health Care Act is a conservative plan to end Obamacare.
President Trump is 100 percent behind these strong conservative reforms.
The time to act is now.
