Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) slammed Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) for her views on the LGBT community and gun laws after the Colorado Republican posted her response to the nightclub shooting in Colorado Springs.
Boebert issued a message of support to the victims Sunday, saying the victims and families were in her “prayers.”
AT LEAST FIVE KILLED AND 18 INJURED IN SHOOTING AT COLORADO SPRINGS NIGHTCLUB
The news out of Colorado Springs is absolutely awful.
This morning the victims & their families are in my prayers.
This lawless violence needs to end and end quickly.

Ocasio-Cortez responded to Boebert’s message by accusing her of peddling hate against LGBT people and for not being in favor of gun control laws.
.@laurenboebert you have played a major role in elevating anti-LGBT+ hate rhetoric and anti-trans lies while spending your time in Congress blocking even the most common sense gun safety laws.
You don’t get to “thoughts and prayers” your way out of this. Look inward and change. https://t.co/mxt6wFMVEv

Boebert has been a staunch supporter of gun rights and a critic of aspects of the LGBT movement, including denouncing drag queen events in which children are present. Last month, Boebert also made fun of Ocasio-Cortez for the New York congresswoman’s reaction to protesters at town hall events.
