MIAMI (AP) — A third annual conference on Cuban reconciliation is taking place in Miami.

The conference Friday at Miami Dade College will feature academics and U.S. diplomats.

The speakers will focus on knowledge and lessons from past conflicts that can be applied toward an eventual reconciliation among Cubans. Many Cuban families have been divided by distance and ideology since the start of the 1959 revolution.

The event is being organized by the Cuba Study Group in partnership with Florida International University and Beyond Conflict, an organization dedicated to societal change and resolution.
