Trump suggests Flynn in line for top position should he win

Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn may be on the very short list for a senior position if Donald Trump wins the White House in November.

Late Friday, the Republican nominee tweeted a book recommendation for Flynn’s writing.

“I highly recommend the just out book – THE FIELD OF FIGHT – by General Michael Flynn. How to defeat radical Islam,” Trump wrote.

Then, the GOP leader retweeted a message from a woman advocating Flynn be considered for a spot in a hypothetical Trump administration.

“General Michael Flynn will make a great Secretary of Defense when you become POTUS!” Trump’s retweet said.

Flynn had been among the five people Trump was considering as his running mate before he picked Indiana Gov. Mike Pence. But unless Congress changes the law to allow it, Flynn may not be eligible to be secretary of defense, who by statute must be separated from military service by at least seven years.

Flynn could serve as Trump’s national security advisor of in a different White House role.
