Liberal talk show host Cenk Uygur announced Thursday he is running for former Rep. Katie Hill’s seat in California.

Uygur, 49, filed paperwork with the Federal Election Committee on Wednesday.
Hill, 32, resigned last month after the House Ethics Committee opened an investigation into allegations that the freshman congresswoman engaged in an inappropriate sexual relationship with her legislative director, Graham Kelly. Hill denied the affair, but admitted to another with a campaign staffer.
Before her resignation, photos surfaced of a nude Hill brushing the campaign staffer’s hair. Additional photos that were later published showed the naked congresswoman holding a bong.

George Papadopoulos, who spent time in prison for lying to the FBI during the Russia investigation, is also running for the vacant seat. Papadopoulos, 32, was a foreign policy adviser to President Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign.
Hill has endorsed state Assemblywoman Christy Smith in the race.
“Boys, please be gentlemen and step aside. She’s got this,” Hill said Wednesday.
A local gal flipped a decades-long Rep seat to win by 9 pts. A local gal is the only one who can keep it blue and the only one the community deserves. I called @ChristyforCA25 before I resigned to make sure she would run. Boys, please be gentlemen and step aside. She’s got this. https://t.co/0HGzQY58Zr
