Lindsey Graham asks DOJ for interviews with 17 officials in FISA abuse investigation

Sen. Lindsey Graham requested “transcribed interviews” with 17 Department of Justice and FBI employees as part of the Senate’s investigation into abuse of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

The South Carolina Republican sent a letter requesting the interviews to Attorney General William Barr on Friday. Graham is chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee and is heading the congressional investigation into the FBI’s investigations into the Trump campaign in 2016.

“In order to further the Committee’s oversight of this important matter, I request that you make the following Department employees available as soon as possible for transcribed interviews,” Graham wrote. He then referred to the employees, some identified by only his or her role, such as “Case Agent 1.”

Graham added that his committee would also be seeking testimony from former DOJ and FBI employees.

Inspector General Michael Horowitz uncovered 17 instances of abuse by DOJ and FBI officials who had investigated the Trump campaign for allegedly colluding with Russian agents to influence the 2016 election. Horowitz released his report in December.
