Democratic leaders demand investigation into Paul Gosar over AOC anime video

Democratic leaders are demanding Republicans call for an ethics and law enforcement investigation into Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar after posting a video they argue supports violence.

Leaders of the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee said the controversial video shared on Twitter showing Gosar as an anime character striking the super-imposed face of Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and swinging swords at President Joe Biden was a violent threat that required action.

“In any other job in America, if a coworker made a video killing another coworker, that person would be fired,” Democratic Reps. Matt Cartwright of Pennsylvania, Debbie Dingell of Michigan, Ted Lieu of California, and Joe Neguse of Colorado said in the Tuesday statement. “Mr. McCarthy needs to decide whether he will finally stand with the American people on the side of law and order or he will continue to support violence and chaos.”

TWITTER SUPPRESSES REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMAN’S ANIME VIDEO ATTACKING AOC AND BIDEN

Gosar’s tweet triggered backlash from other prominent officials, including Ocasio-Cortez, who called Gosar a “creepy member … who fundraises for Neo-Nazi groups.” Twitter subsequently suppressed the initial tweet.

Gosar shared a meme Tuesday morning suggesting people overreacted to his video.
