Democratic Sen. Tammy Duckworth is expecting her second child, making her the first senator to give birth while in office.
Duckworth told the Chicago Sun Times she will give birth to her second daughter in late April.
“I feel great,” Duckworth told the publication.
Duckworth’s first daughter, Abigail, was born in November 2014, when Duckworth was a member of the House. Ten members of the House have given birth while serving in the lower chamber, the Sun Times reported.
Duckworth said getting pregnant a second time was a “struggle.”
“I’ve had multiple IVF cycles and a miscarriage trying to conceive again, so we’re very grateful,” she said.
