Attorney General Jeff Sessions laughed off criticism that he referred to Hawaii as an island in the Pacific and not a U.S. state.
“Nobody has a sense of humor any more,” Sessions told host George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday.
Sessions was referring to a comment he made earlier this week on a federal judge in Hawaii’s decision to block a revised travel ban issued by President Trump.
Sessions responded to criticism from Hawaii senators that the plaintiffs filed the lawsuit in Hawaii.
After brushing off the remark as a joke, he said that the “order is lawful. It’s within his authority constitutionally and explicit statutory authority.”
