Recent election filings and financial disclosures showed that Elon Musk’s America PAC has spent over $800,000 on political campaign materials for multiple congressional races in the 2026 midterm elections.
The total amount revealed to have been spent by America PAC on the congressional campaigns, as of Sept. 3, was $800,475.74. There were 44 separate expenditures listed in the filing with the Federal Election Commission, with expenditures ranging from as little as $500, such as that for the campaign of Rep. Thomas Kean, Jr. (R-NJ), to as much as $123,000 on the campaign of Republican senate candidate for Texas, Ken Paxton, and another $123,000 for campaign materials opposing Paxton’s Democratic opponent James Talarico.

The filings also show contributions for campaign materials supporting Republican Senate candidate for Michigan, Mike Rogers, Sen. Ashley Hinson’s (R-IA) reelection campaign, and Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY). They also revealed contributions for campaign materials opposing several Democratic candidates, including Cait Conley, Lawler’s opponent in New York’s 17th Congressional District, Rebecca Bennet, Kean’s opponent in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District, Joshua Turek, Hinson’s opponent in Iowa, and Abdul el Sayed, Rogers’s opponent in Michigan.

Musk created America PAC during the 2024 election campaign season. The PAC’s stated purpose is to support the “key values” of a fair justice system, free speech, safe cities, secure borders, self-protection, and sensible spending. During the 2024 presidential election, the PAC paid volunteers for each voter who signed a petition supporting the First and Second Amendments. The PAC also awarded $1 million to several volunteers collecting petition signatures.
America PAC came under fire for several reasons during and after the election. Democrats throughout the country alleged that Musk’s PAC was illegal and called for legal action against it and its shutdown. After the election, the PAC was sued by volunteers who had collected signatures for the petition but had yet to receive their promised payments.
