Rudy Giuliani says he “didn’t mean” to call Joe Biden a “mentally deficient idiot” but still believes the former vice president is “dumb.”
President Trump’s personal attorney clarified his insults during a Friday night interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo.
“I didn’t mean that; I meant that he’s dumb,” he stated. “I was asked if he’d be a formidable candidate. I said no, he’d be someone that I think the president would like to run against. He never did well as a national candidate.”
Giuliani also pointed to Biden’s poor performance in law school and his frequent verbal “faux pas” for justification of his claims.
Giuliani’s original comments were published Friday.
“Joe Biden is a moron,” he responded when asked if he viewed him as a 2020 threat to the president. “I’m calling Joe Biden a mentally deficient idiot.”
Giuliani added that Biden’s age should disqualify him from running, as he’s “four years older than Trump.”
