Pinterest donates $250,000 in humanitarian aid to Ukraine

Social media platform Pinterest announced Wednesday a donation of $250,000 to the International Rescue Committee in support of Ukraine.

Pinterest reportedly chose the IRC because it’s “an organization with over 85 years of experience supporting refugees and providing lifesaving aid to crisis-affected families.”

“Our donation will support the Crisis Response Fund focused on providing critical services and supplies for refugees and the continued integration of mental health in the IRC’s humanitarian work in response to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine,” Pinterest wrote in a statement.

Meanwhile, Western Europe has taken on more than 100,000 Ukrainian refugees, with Eastern Europe taking on 2 million.

The platform also announced a new donation pin that directs users to an organization’s donation page. Pinterest has launched its own fund that employees can contribute to. It will match contributions 2-to-1.
