Kim Kardashian: Kanye gave Trump ‘legitimacy’

Kim Kardashian West says she didn’t give President Trump “legitimacy” when she met with him in the Oval Office last week because her husband, rapper Kanye West, already did.

The reality TV star was asked by CNN’s Van Jones in an interview that aired Thursday whether she’s concerned that Trump could use her as a “political pawn” after the two met at the White House to discuss clemency for Alice Johnson, who was sentenced to life in prison for a nonviolent drug offense. Trump commuted the sentence of the 63-year-old earlier this week.

“You’ve endorsed him in a way,” Jones said. “You’ve given him legitimacy. You might be in a campaign video. He used you.”

“I think Kanye’s already given him legitimacy,” she responded. “I don’t think I would be used … At the end of the day, he heard me out. We got the job done. What could he really use me for?”

The rapper made waves in April for a series of tweets that praised Trump.

“Kanye co-signed and said he loves his personality and loves him,” Kardashian West told Jones.
