Leak causes evacuation of homes in Cockeysville

Baltimore County residents were evacuated from about 20 Cockeysville homes after a gas main ruptured Thursday morning.

A Baltimore Gas and Electric contractor hit a gas main around 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Cranbrook and Sorley roads, said company spokeswoman Linda Foy.

Baltimore County fire officials said residents were evacuated as a precaution and were able to return home around 2:45 p.m. Three residents refused medical treatment.

The line was repaired by 3 p.m., Foy said.
