Casey DeSantis finishes final chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that his wife, first lady Casey DeSantis, finished her final chemotherapy treatment for her breast cancer.

The Republican governor made the announcement Thursday at a press conference, saying his wife completed the treatment Wednesday and calling it a big milestone in her recovery.

“It’s not the most fun thing to see someone to go through, but at the end of the day, she’s fought really hard. We think she’s responded really well,” Ron DeSantis said. “Still got more stuff to do, but that’s a big milestone, it’s nasty stuff.”

The governor said they expect to see and hear more good news over the next “few weeks and months.”

The announcement came three months after the country learned of the first lady’s diagnosis in October 2021. Ron DeSantis said at the time his wife wanted to be honest with the public because of her prominence in her husband’s administration. Ron DeSantis pledged his support for his wife in her battle against cancer and has since reportedly attended cancer treatments with her.
