A large black panther has been captured after it was seen climbing around rooftops in France.
Firefighters and a veterinarian responded to a neighborhood in Armentières near Lille after reports of a large exotic cat “strolling on residential gutter.” Astonished residents watched it walking along a second-floor ledge, and going in and out of an open window for nearly an hour.
After firefighters arrived, photos were snapped of the panther lurking around rooftops and perching on building ledges. A perimeter was established as a precaution, and the panther made its way into a house.
Once in the house, emergency workers were able to sedate the feline with a drug dart, and put it in a cage. It is not yet clear if the carnivorous cat had been a pet or if it had escaped from a zoo.
