TECH TOP-UP: The New York Times added technology heavyweights Joichi Ito and Brian McAndrews to its board of directors. Ito was an early investor in Twitter, Flickr and Kickstarter. McAndrews is a venture capitalist specializing in technology startups.

DIGITAL TRANSITION: There are now 13 board members, four of whom have a significant technology background. The appointments come as the Times attempts to ramp up digital revenue following the introduction of its digital “paywall” in March last year.
