Attorney for man convicted of killing BLM protester files motion for retrial

The lawyer for Sgt. Daniel Perry has filed a motion for a retrial, alleging that the court kept key evidence from the jurors.

Perry, who was working as a ride-sharing driver, was found guilty last week of murder for shooting an armed protester who he claims threatened him while participating in a Black Lives Matter protest in Austin.

The case has drawn attention from both sides, including interest from Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX), who announced he would begin an inquiry into whether he should pardon him.
