WATCH: Water park wave machine malfunctions, creating ‘tsunami’ that injures dozens

A wave machine at a water park in China malfunctioned and created a massive 10-foot wave that resulted in many injuries.

The accident occurred at the Shuiyun Water Park in northeast China, and the footage shows the massive wave suddenly barreling over the myriad tourists soaking in the water. Bodies were sent flying and tumbling over each other as the “tsunami” crashed down, reportedly resulting in 44 injuries.

A spokesman for the water park said that the incident was the result of a mechanical error.

“The wave pool was closed for a day for repairs. It’s already been fixed and will be open tomorrow,” the spokesman said.

Injuries reportedly ranged from skinned knees and bruised bodies to broken bones. Officials said three people still remain hospitalized from the accident.
