Senate Dems teary-eyed during ’emotional’ Kaine visit

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid described a “very emotional” visit Wednesday from Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine, who met privately with party lawmakers in a private lunch near the Capitol.

Reid, D-Nev., said “a tear or two was shed in the caucus” during the visit after Kaine “gave a very short speech but a very powerful speech.”

Kaine is a familiar face for Senate Democrats because he has served with them as a freshman senator representing Virginia since 2013 before becoming Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s running mate.

Reid called Kaine, “a wonderful human being,” and said Kaine promised the caucus “that she and he are going to win the election and I have no doubt that is true.”
