Law firm McGuireWoods has concluded its investigation examining the racist photo that appeared in Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s 1984 yearbook page at Eastern Virginia Medical School.
The president and provost of the school, Richard V. Homan, will unveil the investigation’s findings during a press conference Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Richard Cullen and George Martin, partners at McGuireWoods, will also speak at the press conference.
The investigation was launched after a photo of a man in blackface and another wearing a Ku Klux Klan robe and hood included from his page in the 1984 Eastern Virginia Medical School’s yearbook was published.
Northam initially apologized for the photo, but he later said he didn’t believe he was one of the two men in the photo. He did confess he wore blackface in 1984 for a Michael Jackson costume at a talent show.
Northam, a Democrat, has resisted pressure from figures including Sens. Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, both Democrats of Virginia, to step down from his post.
