Eric Trump: There’s ‘nothing worse’ than domestic abuse

Eric Trump defended his father’s reaction to the abuse allegations against former White House staffer Rob Porter, but went further than President Trump in condemning the alleged abuse.

“You know my father’s empowered more women in his career than anybody,” Eric Trump told WABC Radio’s “Curtis and Cosby” show Tuesday.

Trump said there’s no question his father takes the abuse allegations against Porter seriously. Yet last week the president wished Porter well in his future endeavors and reminded reporters that the former staff secretary maintains he’s innocent as his two ex-wives have accused him verbal and physical abuse.

“There’s nothing worse in the world than domestic abuse, than some of these allegations you see,” he said. “It’s truly the lowest of low and you have to take it very seriously and he does take it very seriously.”

Trump then expressed support for the #MeToo movement — a movement with which his father has been caught in the crosshairs for his own alleged misconduct.

“I think that last six months you’ve really [seen] a lot of this come out of the woodwork, you know in the entertainment industry and in so many industries, and I think that’s good,” he said. “For the first time, so much of this have become public because I think ultimately it helps stop the problem that clearly exists in society.”
