Officers believe it was a targeted attack rather than a random shooting. This mother was in the parking lot of the day care at the time, but her children did not witness the attack. It has yet to be determined how many children the mother had dropped off. Other children may have witnessed the shooting.
The street in front of the day care center was shut down by police amid the investigation, with children evacuated out the back door of the center. It will remain closed for an undetermined amount of time.
