Brad Pitt used his acceptance speech at the Oscars to jab the Senate for voting against hearing witness testimony in President Trump’s impeachment trial.
The Hollywood actor won an Oscar on Sunday night for Best Supporting Actor in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Pitt used his brief moment on stage to mock the Senate for not calling former national security adviser John Bolton to testify.
“Thank you to the Academy for this honor of honors. They told me I only have 45 seconds up here, which is 45 seconds more than the Senate gave John Bolton this week,” Pitt said. “I’m thinking maybe Quentin [Tarantino] makes a movie about it and, in the end, the adults do the right thing.”
The Senate voted on Wednesday to acquit Trump of two articles impeachment that alleged he abused his power as president and that he obstructed Congress. The Senate had voted the previous week against calling witnesses during the trial.
