Comedian and talk show host Bill Maher blasted liberals who attack masculinity.
Maher, the host of Real Time with Bill Maher, pointed to the double standard of today’s woke culture amid the praise for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“If there is one thing we’ve learned from the crisis in Ukraine is that everyone loves and the world still needs grown a** men,” Maher said. “Look you can go on about how masculinity is itself toxic, or you can be horny for Volodymyr Zelensky, but you can’t do both.”
The HBO host pointed to social media posts touting people’s attraction to Zelensky, including one tweet that claims every woman has a small crush on the Ukrainian president.
“Now there’s certainly no denying that there has been a lot of toxicity associated with men throughout history,” Maher said, noting that male brutality should not be condoned.

“There are brave women fighting in Ukraine, but the images of people fleeing all seem to be women and children, while every able-bodied man in Ukraine is sticking around to fight and maybe die,” Maher added, acknowledging the Ukrainian order prohibiting men aged 18-60 from leaving the country. “It’s not always a great advantage being a man, and toxic though we may be, we do sometimes come in handy.”
Maher said that Zelensky, no matter how much it bothers the Left, fits the once-popular definition of a “man’s man.”
“Turns out that after 200,000 years, there’s still a lot of ‘another tribe is coming to kill us,’ and when that happens, you want a little big d*** energy,” Maher said.

The host suggested that the esteem held for masculinity in modern society is waning because of liberals’ constant lecturing.
“It’s the result of having it drilled into us in recent years that masculinity is itself toxic, and scary, and unevolved,” Maher said. “And women don’t like it, and the ones who think they do, they really don’t. And if you think you do, you’re wrong, too.”
