Bill de Blasio heads to New Hampshire as he weighs 2020 run

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio later this week will head to New Hampshire, an early presidential primary state, as he weighs whether to enter the 2020 race for the White House.

“He wants to make sure ideas like pre-K for all, paid personal time and mental health are on the table as Democrats debate the party’s vision for the future,” his spokesman Michael Casca said in a statement, according to Politico.

De Blasio is traveling to the state Friday morning to meet with Nashua Mayor Jim Donchess, then heading to Concord to meet with local liberal activists.

His hopes of being a key player in the 2016 election were dashed when he failed to organize a forum with presidential candidates. He eventually endorsed Hillary Clinton, whom he had previously said was not progressive enough.

His New Hampshire trip comes just weeks after Mike Bloomberg, the former three-term mayor of New York City, made a trip to the state as he contemplates his own run for president.
