HERNDON, Va. (AP) — Volkswagen of America Inc. said Monday that U.S. auto sales in November rose 29 percent, its best showing for the month since 1973, paced by a big increase in sales of Passat sedans and a more modest gain for the Jetta.
BY THE NUMBERS: VW sold 36,728 vehicles last month, compared with 28,412 in November 2011.

TOP SELLERS: The Jetta, at 14,259 sedans and wagons. That was up 11 percent from a year ago.
HOT MODELS: VW sold 10,544 Passats, up 75 percent from 6,018 a year ago. Sales of the redesigned Beetle coupe rose 20 percent to 1,983 from 1,656 a year ago.
