Baltimore is making way for Loren Roberts, Tom Watson, Scott Simpson and other senior PGA players who will compete in Baltimore County next week at the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship.

Baltimore County will close Mays Chapel Road between Timonium and Jenifer roads from Monday, Oct. 6 to Sunday, Oct. 12 to accommodate the tournament’s request for road closure.

Traffic will detour to Timonium and Jenifer roads, but residents on the road will have access to their homes.

David Fidler, spokesperson for the Department of Public Works for Baltimore County said the reason for the closure is twofold: increased traffic volume and security issues.

“They requested it in the past because they had so many people. It’s for their convenience,” said Fidler.

The Examiner tried to contact Tournament Director Steve Schoenfeld to confirm the reasons for the road closure, but he could not be reached.
