Trump: Democrats were ‘mean, angry, despicable’ during first day of Brett Kavanaugh hearings

The way Democrats treated Supreme Court justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh during the first day of his confirmation hearings showed the extent of how “mean, angry, and despicable” they are, President Trump said on Tuesday.

“The Brett Kavanaugh hearings for the future Justice of the Supreme Court are truly a display of how mean, angry, and despicable the other side is,” Trump tweeted. “They will say anything, and are only looking to inflict pain and embarrassment to one of the most highly renowned jurists to ever appear before Congress. So sad to see!”

Kavanaugh began the confirmation process Tuesday, but it was repeatedly disrupted by protests and interruptions by Democrats.

Fox News counted 63 interruptions in the hearing before breaking for lunch.

Since Trump announced Kavanaugh’s nomination on July 9, Democrats have worked on garnering opposition to his confirmation, highlighting his views on abortion, healthcare, and executive power and have also complained about access to a trove of documents.
