‘The View’ raves about Meghan McCain’s eulogy: ‘My God, she showed everyone how tough she is’

Meghan McCain’s co-panelists on ABC’s “The View” praised her Tuesday for the controversial eulogy she delivered at the funeral of her father, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

“It was just so moving to see our friend and our colleague rise to that occasion,” Sunny Hostin said during Tuesday’s installment of the daytime talk show. “For those of you who didn’t see it, she said John McCain told her, ‘Show people how tough you are.’ And my God, she showed everyone how tough she is.”

Joy Behar, a left-leaning panelist, added that the most most moving moment for her during the service Saturday at the Washington National Cathedral was when attendees sang “God Bless America.”

“I was there singing ‘God Bless America’ with President Obama, Michelle Obama, with George W. Bush, who I have had such criticisms of him when he was in office,” Behar said. “I don’t want to say anything bad right now because I’m trying to take a high road here, but I don’t feel like the president and the administration loves the country the way these people do.”

John McCain died Aug. 25 at the age of 81 from brain cancer. He was buried Sunday at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

Tuesday’s episode of “The View” was also the first for new co-host, Abby Huntsman.

The former Fox News personality implored viewers to reserve judgment until they “get to know” her.

“We are all so much more complicated than the way we are often defined,” Huntsman said.
