In honor of Opening Day, I had a short discussion of baseball in yesterday’s weekly newsletter (yes, you can get it–it’s easy, just sign up here. And yes, it’s free!) But I’ll admit last night’s Villanova-North Carolina game could call into question my endorsement of the superiority of baseball. There are often great all-around games without particularly dramatic endings; there are often decent games with great endings. But a great game with a great ending in a championship final–that’s rare. So I tip my hat to college basketball, and especially to ‘Nova, a school I saw often at the Palestra when I taught at Penn and that I’ve always liked.
And here, FYI, is the section from the newsletter (and feel free to enter our TWS pool).
