Biden takes credit for impeachment inquiry into ‘boy’ Trump

2020 Democratic front-runner Joe Biden credits himself for the ongoing impeachment inquiry into President Trump.

The presidential hopeful made the claim while speaking at the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union presidential forum on Sunday.

“I may be the last guy that publicly called for impeachment, but I’m the only reason there is impeachment going on,” Biden answered. “Our democracy is literally at stake. It’s not a joke. This is the most corrupt administration in modern American history.”

Biden was referencing the July 25 phone call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky, in which Trump requested the foreign government to investigate Biden and his son Hunter. The call led a CIA official to file a whistleblower complaint, which paved the way for House Democrats to launch an impeachment inquiry last month.

“I think the boy knows that I’ll beat him like a drum if I get the nomination,” Biden continued. “If in fact, the House doesn’t move…what does the next unethical president [do], if we elect another one? What’s that say they can do? What’s gonna happen? They have to know there’s consequences.”

Biden also explained that “there’s no option” but to proceed with the inquiry even if there is little chance that the Republican-controlled Senate would convict and remove Trump from office.
