President Trump said on Twitter Tuesday he is ready to make a deal regarding a solution for those protected under the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
Monday marked the deadline Trump set for Congress to come up with a solution for the so-called “Dreamers,” which Democrats said needed to be addressed in any federal funding and budget negotiations.
However, no action was taken by Congress despite weeks of negotiation. Multiple court injunctions are keeping the program in place while legal challenges to Trump’s decision are heard.
“Total inaction on DACA by Dems. Where are you? A deal can be made!” Trump tweeted.

Trump also quoted Maryland federal judge’s ruling that he has the right to end DACA, and blamed former President Barack Obama for not coming up with a solution in the eight years he was in office. During Obama’s second term, the Senate passed an immigration bill that would have addressed illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children, but the Republican-led House refused to take it up.
Trump reiterated that he is waiting on the Democrats to present a solution so lawmakers can move forward with addressing former DACA recipients.
“I am waiting for the Dems, they are running for the hills!” Trump tweeted.
Federal Judge in Maryland has just ruled that “President Trump has the right to end DACA.” President Obama had 8 years to fix this problem, and didn’t. I am waiting for the Dems, they are running for the hills!
